The former National Assembly Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo on Thursday, September 28 visited the chambers of Parliament in Nairobi.
Kaparo was welcomed to the National Assembly chambers by the current Speaker Moses Wetangula.
In a statement posted on his X account, Wetangula noted that Kaparo’s visit to the parliament was nostalgic and historical.
“In his phrase, “Wazee hukumbuka” he nostalgically recalled his time in office while serving as Speaker of the National Assembly in the 8th Parliament,” Wetangula stated.
Wetangula explained that Francis Ole Kaparo’s visit not only bridged the generational gap within the institution but also highlighted the importance of continuity and collaboration in Kenya’s legislative body.

According to the National Assembly speaker, the visit by the former and long-serving speaker rekindled an institutional memory that is worth emulating.
“It exemplified the principles of respect, collaboration, and the passing down of knowledge from one generation of leaders to the next,” Wetangula explained.
“We acknowledge the immense contribution Hon. Kaparo rendered to the institution of Parliament while serving between 1993 -2007 as the 5th Speaker of the National Assembly”.
“I am privileged to have tapped his wisdom and leadership skills by working with him closely as a member of the Speaker’s panel in the 8th parliament,” he added.

At the same time, Wetangula acknowledged that the wisdom and experiences of leaders like Ole Kaparo will undoubtedly continue to shape the path to the future of Kenya.
Wetangula, who is also the Ford Kenya party leader was elected as National Assembly Speaker on September 7, 2022, to replace Justin Muturi.
