Siaya Governor James Orengo has warned Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his “shareholding” remarks.
He says that by virtue of his position, Gachagua should be the last person to talk about shareholding a government that is supposed to serve all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliations.
The governor argues that Gachagua took an oath under the Constitution to unite the people of Kenya, adding that for him to speak in such language is only treasonous.
Orengo says that the issue of development is a constitutional matter that should not be turned into a political weapon.
Gachagua misleading Nyanza MPs
Orengo maintains that Gachagua’s statements are misleading some of the opposition MPs especially from Nyanza who have decided to cross over to other political parties thinking that they can bring about development through working with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
Governor Orengo made the remarks during a burial ceremony of Appollo Okoth Onyango in Ong’iende village, Alego/Usonga Constituency where he warned the leadership of Kenya Kwanza that weaponising development is a recipe for ethnic animosity and tribal conflict.
He added that the conflicts which were witnessed in Rwanda and many other places are based on weaponising either development or politics of a nation, therefore those who are in offices of leadership must make sure they render justice to Kenyans.
