Osoro: I’m not interested in Kisii governor seat, that’s village politics

Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro has affirmed that he is not going for the Kisii governor seat currently held by his rival Simba Arati.

Osoro was speaking during an interview on TV47’s entertainment show Wabebe Experience hosted by Willis Raburu.

The South Mugirango MP has been heavily criticized by the opposition for the recent chaos witnessed during a bursary issuance event in his constituency organized by Governor Arati.

“I have never admired county politics. It’s a village kind of politics. National politics is what defines the trajectory of a country.

“When you devolve back to governorship, you devolve your politics, you degrade yourself. You only carry a big name,” he explained.

The two-term legislator attributed this to a quick political death of most of the governors.

“Your longevity is dimmed, and this is very factual. Let me give you examples- Wycliffe Oparanya was a very big name. He even served as Chairman of Governors. Today I see him roaming around trying to make himself relevant. He has no other option except going for presidency,” Osoro added.

The Majority Whip stated that the governor’s seat was unappealing as one gained so many enemies along the way that it would be difficult to seek any other “smaller” elective post.

“People have imaginations that I want to run for governor, but I want to tell them that I enjoy national politics. I want to run for president of this country some day, and you can’t run for president if you try to devolve your politics.”

Osoro asserted that if he were to seek any post within the county level it certainly would not be a gubernatorial one.

“If I must run for a county seat then it should be senator, if I must.”

In a rejoinder however, Osoro hinted that he would seek the Kisii gubernatorial seat only if his supporters pushed him to do so.
