Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo has warned parents in his constituency that they face arrest if they do not take their children to form one by Wednesday, February 7.

The youthful lawmaker, acknowledging the critical role that education plays in a child, has declared that day secondary schools in his constituency are free.

“Any child with 250 marks & above and still at home should report to school by tomorrow. Fanyeni Shopping. Your MP will take care of school fees,” the MP said.

For those who scored 250 marks and below, the MP has since directed the parents to enroll them to day schools immediately. “Day school in Keiyo South Constituency is free.”

Accordingly, parents who will not have complied with this directive, the MP says, will be arrested and prosecuted.

“Through the office of DCC working with all chiefs, we shall ensure 100% transition to Form 1.”

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, while speaking to stakeholders on Monday, February 5, said the government is committed to ensuring access to inclusive quality education at all levels of education.

Data from the Ministry indicates that some 130,000 boys and girls (out of the 1.39 million children) are yet to join secondary schools.
