Police in Kisumu have released 78 teenagers who were arrested during a house party at Mountain View Estate.
The group, consisting of 68 boys and 10 girls, were all under the age of 18.
Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai revealed that the teenagers were found with bhang, cigarettes, and khat during the raid.
Acting on a tip-off, police stormed the party, where nearly 100 youths had gathered.
However, several managed to escape during the operation.
The 78 teenagers were taken to Obunga Police Station for questioning before being released to their parents.
This morning, the remaining five teens still in custody were picked up by their relatives.
Police have also reached out to the homeowner, who is the father of one of the teenagers.
He claimed he was unaware of the party as he was away at the time.
Commander Mulai urged parents to take an active role in monitoring their children, especially during the festive season.
He warned that police would remain alert to prevent such gatherings and ensure the safety and well-being of young people.
With the festive season in full swing, vigilance from both parents and law enforcement remains crucial.
