On Thursday, August 8, the Kenyan trio of Nelly Chepchirchir, Susan Ejore, and Faith Kipyegon, who qualified for the 1500 meters semi-finals, will head to the track to seek a spot in the finals. Faith Kipyegon, a traditional 1500m runner, aims to break her world record and achieve greatness at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, self-taught four-time Olympian Julius Yego will be seeking to earn the country a medal when he competes in the javelin final. Yego advanced to the final after recording a throw of 85.97 meters in the qualification phase. However, he faces serious competition from Germany’s Julian Weber, who registered a throw of 87.76 meters, and India’s Neeraj Chopra, who managed an 89.34-meter throw, among others.
Additionally, Koitatoi Kidali will compete in the 800 meters repechage at 1:08 PM, seeking to earn a place in the semifinals. If he performs well, he will join compatriots Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Wycliffe Kinyamal, who qualified yesterday for Friday’s finals.
