Reports indicate that there is an imminent Parliamentary purge in the leadership and membership of Parliamentary committees.
The radical changes, plotted by President William Ruto and African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson candidate Raila Odinga, will be targeting perceived loyalists of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The changes are expected to be put into motion as soon as the bicameral Parliament (National Assembly and Senate) resume regular sittings on Tuesday, February 11.
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina, one of the allies of the impeached Gachajua, says she is ready for the purge.
The youthful lawmaker insists that her woes started when she decided to listen to the voice of Kirinyaga people who voted for her, to vote ‘No’ for the Finance Bill 2024.
“I had reservations about the Finance Bill 2024, I communicated the same to members of my party but I was singled out as anti-government. Nonetheless, it is a price that I was ready to pay, because I was elected by Kirinyaga residents to represent their interests, not mine,” she said in an interview with TV47 on Wednesday, February 12 morning.
