In an emotional revelation, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi the spouse of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, broke down in tears while recounting the harrowing stories of widows forced to make unimaginable sacrifices for the sake of their children.

The heart-wrenching tales came to light during her recent visit to Migori County, where she encountered widows resorting to desperate measures including exchanging their bodies for food.

“I went to Migori, a widow is ‘selling’ her body to feed her child. And we are still talking about religion. Just ask yourself if that was your mother doing such to feed you, get your school fees.

We need to go beyond religion and get them out of this mess,” expressed Pastor Dorcas.

With a heavy heart, she highlighted the plight of widows, who find themselves in these dire situations due to the loss of husbands and fathers.

Pastor Dorcas emphasized the urgent need for collective action to rescue these vulnerable individuals from the crisis they face.

During her extensive tour of Kilifi County, she discovered a staggering number of widows, far surpassing expectations.

In one instance in Kehancha, Migori County, a meeting planned for 500 widows drew a crowd of 1,500.

This alarming trend has prompted Pastor Dorcas to call on religious leaders from both Muslim and Christian communities to play a pivotal role in improving the lives of widows and other vulnerable populations.

“At the end nobody will be asked which religion they belonged to, God will judge us based on how we did to help His people.

The crisis we are in, if the religious leaders will not act, then we are not helping our people,” she emphasized.

As part of her week-long working tour of Kilifi County, Pastor Dorcas organized a two-day free medical camp in Mbudzi area, Jaribuni ward, aiming to provide essential healthcare services to the community.

She also urged religious leaders to open their places of worship for street children, emphasizing the need to uplift the boychild and other vulnerable populations.

Governor Gedion Mung’aro and the First Lady of Kilifi, Susan Mung’aro, have pledged their support for Pastor Dorcas’s programs in the county.

The collective efforts aim to bring dignity and relief to the lives of vulnerable populations, echoing a call for compassion and action beyond religious boundaries.
