Controversial preacher Victor Kanyari has broken silence on the untimely demise of his younger sister Starlet Wahu.
According to Nairobi News, pastor Kanyari was shocked upon learning the tragic news about his sister’s murder.
He revealed that they had spent time together during the Christmas holidays, although his late sister Wahu did not introduce the murder suspect to the family.
“I am heartbroken; she was doing so well in life. We last met on Christmas, and on December 31, we spent time together at home. We had not seen the man before.
“We learned about him after her death. This is so tragic for us, the family, and even her friends. May her soul rest in peace,” the preacher was quoted as saying.
Officers from Industrial Area police station discovered Wahu’s body early Saturday morning at an Airbnb apartment in South B area.
According to CCTV footage released by police, Wahu, donning a red dress, was seen entering the Y32 in Papino apartments South B in the company of a man on Friday night.
The man, prime suspect in the murder case, has since been identified as John Watara aged 30 years.
On Saturday morning, police officers received an alarming call from the apartment’s management informing them of suspected murder within the building.
When they arrived at the scene, the door was apparently locked from outside and the officers had to break the locks to gain access.
They stumbled upon the lifeless body of Wahu lying in a pool of blood in the sitting room.
Judith Nyongesa, the police commander in Makadara, confirmed the incident, saying the victim must have bled to death.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Wahu’s body bore bruises and stab wounds on her thighs. The officers indicated that she must have attempted to seek help before passing away just a few steps from the main door.
Their report divulged that the two had rented out the apartment for a night out.
At the crime scene, police recovered HIV testing kits indicating negative results, alongside used condoms, a mobile phone, alcohol, the victim’s clothes and a knife believed to be the murder weapon.
