Paul Pogba blames ‘nutritional supplements’ for failed doping test

Juventus, one of the most prominent football clubs in the world, has been hit with a bombshell as their star midfielder, Paul Pogba, faces a provisional suspension due to an anti-doping offence.

The shocking news sent shockwaves through the footballing community.

The revelation came to light after Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO) disclosed that Pogba’s post-match drug test, following Juventus’ impressive 3-0 victory over Udinese on August 20th, had returned alarming levels of testosterone.

It’s a development that has cast a shadow over the career of the 30-year-old French International.

In an unusual twist of fate, Pogba, despite being an unused substitute in the match, found himself randomly selected for post-match drug testing.

This unforeseen turn of events has the potential to drastically alter the trajectory of his career.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for Paul Pogba, as the consequences of being found guilty of doping are severe.

If the allegations are substantiated, he could face a suspension ranging from two to four years, a penalty that could devastate both his professional career and personal aspirations.

Reacting to this distressing turn of events, Juventus Football Club issued a statement on September 11, 2023, confirming the precautionary suspension order imposed on Paul Labile Pogba by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal.

The suspension follows the results of tests carried out after the Udinese match on August 20, 2023, sending shockwaves through the footballing world and leaving fans and pundits alike in a state of disbelief.

Paul Pogba, a name synonymous with flair and finesse on the football field, is a celebrated French professional football player renowned for his pivotal role as a central midfielder for Juventus and his contributions to the France national team.

Born on March 15, 1993, in the scenic town of Lagny-sur-Marne, France, Pogba’s football journey has been a source of inspiration for aspiring players worldwide.

His dazzling skills, vision, and ability to dominate the midfield have made him a household name, and his career now stands at a crossroads, pending the resolution of this shocking anti-doping case.

Pogba’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta broke her silence on the matter on Tuesday.

In a released statement, she said: “We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can’t say anything. The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules.”

Additionally, ESPN are reporting that the player has told Juve bosses that the food supplements were prescribed to him by a friend who works as a doctor, and is based in Miami.

The supplements were said to be obtainable in American but not in Italy.

The report claimed Pogba said he didn’t know the supplements contained testosterone, but did acknowledge his error of judgement.

The club were not informed about him purchasing the product and nor did he seek the permission from club doctors before taking it.

Pogba’s current deal runs until 2026, but Juventus are now likely to explore the possibility of terminating his deal if he is dealt a four-year ban.

And it would prove an unsavoury end to his illustrious career.

Hoping for the best outcome as it will be a great loss to his staunch fans worldwide.
