The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) Chairperson Paul Tergat is currently in Portugal  attending the ANOC AGM.

The Legend is accompanied by the Secretary-General of NOC-K, Mr. Francis Mutuku, as they represent Kenya at the 27th General Assembly in Cascais, Portugal.

The assembly started on the 28th of October and is scheduled to end on the 2nd of November 2024.

Over 800 representatives from more than 200 NOCs, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Federations (IFs), and Olympic Games Organising Committees (OCOGs) are in attendance to collaborate, share ideas, and discuss the most pressing issues facing the Olympic Movement.

The discussions are focused on the recent Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the upcoming General Assembly, and they explore the opportunities and challenges facing NOCs in the next Olympiad.

“A full agenda will feature several key items, including reports on the work of ANOC’s commissions and programs, a presentation on ANOC’s plans for the future, and reports from Paris 2024 and the upcoming OCOGs,” read part of the statement.

During the launch of the official website in September, ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said:

“We are looking forward to welcoming the world to Cascais. The ANOC General Assembly is unique in its scale and global representation within sport and provides an unparalleled platform for open and meaningful dialogue among NOCs and other Olympic stakeholders. As the Olympic Movement faces a transition in the coming months, the ANOC General Assembly is an important opportunity for the NOC and wider Olympic family to come together to engage, share ideas, and discuss the way forward.”

The Kenyan National Olympic Committee has received notable recognition for their success at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

While in Kenya for his Africa tour, the IOC president commended the Kenyan NOC for their performance at the 2024 Olympics in France. Kenya won 11 medals during the event, the most by an African country.
