PCEA Church official’s home raided by auctioneers after defaulting on a Ksh 7M loan

National NewsNews

The future of a senior Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PECA) official is uncertain after auctioneers seized his property due to a defaulted loan of Sh 7 million.

The PCEA official Rev. David Ndumo faced embarrassment as auctioneers raided his Nairobi home, taking electronics, furniture, and cars.

The situation has alarmed the Church, especially with Rev. Ndumo, their newly elected Treasurer, facing legal consequences for loan default.

Chairman Hon B. Kimemia granted orders to attach Rev. Ndumo’s property to recover Sh 7,616,309 from the guaranteed loan.

Lawyer Wambugu Wanjohi represented the guarantors, relieved by the court’s decision, emphasizing the financial strain Rev. Ndumo caused.

“We will make sure that we get the entire amounts including interest to offset deductions from my clients and victims of Rev. Ndumo as well as all interest accruing so that we settle this matter once and for all,” he said.

The lawyer aims to recover the full amount, including interest, to alleviate the financial burden on his clients and victims.

Despite delays due to COVID-19, the case concluded in November 2023, with property attachment executed recently.

The Cooperative Tribunal instructed Wright Auctioneers to seize Rev. Ndumo’s property, offsetting the loan and associated costs.

Plaintiffs were awarded litigation costs totaling Sh 10,000 against Rev. Ndumo and Sheria SACCO.
