Salaysa, who secured the parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election under the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K), led by former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, is gearing up for a new political challenge.

However, the first-time MP has not been immune to controversy, with his conduct drawing criticism in the public eye.

One notable incident occurred on January 13 when Salasya was in legal trouble.

He was arrested on allegations of assaulting Malaha-Isongo-Makunga MCA Peter Indimuli during a funeral in Kakamega County.

The charges against Salasya include assault, causing physical harm, and creating a disturbance with the potential to breach the peace.

Despite the serious nature of the accusations, he was released on a Ksh.50,000 bail after his apprehension.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned Salasya to provide a statement regarding the alleged assault.

This development adds a layer of scrutiny to the politician’s profile as he embarks on his journey towards the gubernatorial seat.

Salasya’s decision to vie for the governorship, positions him at the forefront of a new political chapter even as he grapples with legal challenges and navigates through controversies surrounding his public conduct.

The unfolding events will undoubtedly shape the narrative of Peter Salaysa’s political future leading up to the 2027 General Election.
