Kenneth Petty, the husband of rap star Nicki Minaj, is currently under house arrest following a recent video in which he made threats against Offset, a rapper from rap group Migos.
Last week, social media started buzzing with footage of Petty and his friends as they threatened Offset.
In the video clips, the group could be seen standing outside a building where Offset was residing.
Petty threatens Offset
In one of the clips, Minaj’s husband directly addressed Offset, saying, “Offset, where you at?”
This statement, as per video evidence obtained by the X account MrPopOfficial, was accompanied by a friend’s ominous addition.
The addition in question stated, “Plan that vacation, (you’re) going to be planning your funeral.”
A probation officer, in a petition filed in the District Court, requested that Petty be placed in a home detention program.
The home detention program was to run for a period of up to 120 days due to his threats towards Offset in the video.
This program might involve various forms of monitoring, such as electronic surveillance, GPS tracking, or an automated identification system.

Petty petitioned for house arrest
The petition elaborated, stating, “Mr Petty was recorded on video making threatening remarks towards a specific individual.
It goes on to say that these threats were made “while in the company of someone with a criminal record.
Consequently, therefore “Placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities.
Nevertheless, this was in an effort to “limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance.”
This was to “hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community.”

Previous charges
Notably, Minaj’s had previously received a sentence of probation and house arrest in July 2022.
consequently, this was a result of failing to register as a sex offender as required by law.
This prior sentence required him to pay a $55,000 fine and spend three years on probation, with an additional year in home detention.
These details were reported by NBC and CBS Los Angeles at that time.
Petty’s attorneys, Michael Goldstein and Hagop Kuyumjian, issued a statement in response to the sentence.
They stated, “We appreciate and respect the court’s decision granting the defence request for probation and home confinement.”
