Chairman of 748 Air Services and Founder of Mama Ibado Charity, Mr. Ahmed Rashid Jibril has announced an inspiring initiative to support Kenya’s vulnerable seniors in need.
On August 3rd, he will embark on a journey to the roof of Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the continent- not just as a personal challenge, but as a mission to raise awareness and funds for Mama Ibado Charity’s Seniors Feeding Program.
Over the last 13 years, this program has been a beacon of hope for many seniors, providing essential food rations, offering healthcare support and improving living standards to needy seniors aged 60 years and above.
Speaking about this noble cause, the Mr. Jibril said, “The elderly are the pillars of our community, yet many of them face the harsh reality of hunger. This is something we cannot and should not ignore. As a fellow senior, I understand the dignity and respect that our elderly persons deserve. It’s our noble responsibility to ensure that no senior goes to bed hungry, feeling abandoned or forgotten. We owe it to them, we owe it to ourselves to restore their dignity and support them in their twilight years.”
The goal of this initiative is to raise KES 13 Million (USD $100,000), which will provide essential food supplies for 1,000 seniors.
Mr. Jibril emphasized that each contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the lives of these seniors. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, he reiterated is symbolic of the journey and struggles that our seniors face every day.
“As I take each step to the majestic peak, I’ll be carrying with me the hopes and dreams of those I aim to support,” said Jibril.
Mama Ibado Charity’s Seniors Feeding Program has been in operation since 2011, providing monthly food rations to 50 seniors and growing their impact reach to current 1,000 seniors in Isiolo and Kakamega Counties.
The Charity not only provides nutritional support but also other interventions, such as improved housing and access to quality healthcare, demonstrating a holistic approach to senior care.
The Chairman called for the community to join hands in supporting this cause, emphasizing on the significant impact of the Seniors Feeding program. These include; reduced malnutrition, longevity of life, improved family ties, and empowerment of seniors to live a dignified life.

About Mama Ibado Charity
Mama Ibado Charity was established in 2011 in honor of the late Mama Ibado Haji Osman who commenced this initiative on a personal level to address the poverty and distress experienced by her peers. She was disturbed to see seniors supporting their grandchildren by begging and appealing to friends and family instead of living their elderly life in dignity, respect and peace.
Today, Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) is an independent, non-governmental organization fully registered in both Kenya and Canada whose aim is to restore dignity to senior citizens through interventions targeted to the provision of basic human needs.
