Captain Sora Karro Mohamed, the co-pilot in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) chopper which crashed in Elgeyo Marakwet, has been laid to rest today (Friday, April 19).
The late Captain Mohamed was buried in accordance with Islam traditions in Marsabit County.
His body was flown to Helu area which is about four kilometers from Moyale town.
The soldier’s family- including two wives, parents and siblings- underwent counselling on Friday, April 19 morning before they were allowed to view the body.
Captain Mohamed was born in Helu. He started school at Helu Primary School but sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Moyale Junior Academy.
He scored a B + in KCSE from Moyale High School, before entering the military as a cadet.
He later attended Kenyatta University and graduated with a Second Class Honours Upper Division Bachelor of Science in Military and Security Studies in 2017. He joined the Kenya Air Force and received pilot training at the elite Starlite Aviation Training Academy in Durban, South Africa.
