Jubilee Party Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Nakuru have pledged their loyalty to President William Ruto.
They were hosted by the first in command and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House, Nakuru on Thursday morning.
Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Sabina Chege, who was also in attendance, led the 120 MCAs to meet the Head of State, signalling further split within the Uhuru Kenyatta-led party.
Sabina Chege was declared party leader of one faction of Jubilee Party, with East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega in the Secretary General position.
Twenty eight members of the Jubilee National Executive Council were also present.
Ruto hosted a section of Jubilee MPs in February last year at State House, Nairobi.
This meeting, which was attended by Sabina Chege, Kanini Kega, Adan Keynan among others led to a split in Jubilee party in the subsequent days.
In May, Former President Uhuru Kenyatta broke his silence by convening a national delegates conference where he stated that he was yet to hand over leadership of the Azimio-affiliated party.
Jubilee MPs who also pledged allegiance to Kenya Kwanza including Kanini, Sabina, Keynan were expelled from the party. Kenyatta challenged the nominated leaders to resign and seek fresh mandate under their new parties.
He said the two can no longer continue to enjoy the fruits of the party.
“Just move and leave us be in peace. And those seats that we gave you, please return them and we give them to others,” he added.
New members were also appointed to replace those who had shifted to the KK coalition.
They included Jamleck Kamau (national director of elections), Maison Leshoomo (national women’s league chairperson), Agnes Thumbi (national youth league leader) and Nderitu Mureithi (business council leader).
Wrangles within the Jubilee party are yet to be resolved as the matter is pending in court.
Former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, who remained loyal to the Azimio coalition maintains he is the party’s secretary general.
