Pochettino confirms fresh Chelsea injury blow

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that England international Ben Chilwell has suffered another injury.

Chilwell acquired a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Brighton at Stamford bridge in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup third round clash.

The defender has had numerous injury problems since his arrival at Stamford bridge from Leicester in 2020.

The 26-year-old left limping off the field after the injury in the last Seven minutes of the match against Brighton, however Pochettino has indicated that Chilwell will undergo further fitness tests.

Pouchettino may have indicated that there are concerns that this might live him in the sidelines for a while.

Last season Chilwell was not present in most of the Blues fixtures as he was nursing two hamstring injuries.

The same injuries Kept him out of the 2022 world cup in Qatar.

‘We need to assess it tomorrow but I think it is hamstring,” said Pochettino.

Ben Chilwell is a modern full-back in every sense of the phrase, combining athleticism and energy up and down the flank with excellent technique and the ability to recover with pace in defensive transition.

As the role of the full-back has evolved in recent years, Chilwell has emerged as a player who can contribute in every area of the field.

Chilwell is set to stay at Stamford Bridge Until 2025 , He signed a five deal with the Blues in 2020.

Stamford Bridge saw a home victory against Roberto de Zerbi’s team, marking only the third time since March that the club has managed to secure a win on their home turf, reflecting a challenging period for the team.
