Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Manchester United deserved the 2-1 victory they secured over his team in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Pochettino, who witnessed his side being overpowered by a significantly improved Manchester United, pointed to their previous 3-2 win over Brighton on Sunday, where Conor Gallagher received a red card.
“Manchester United deserved to win the game. They showed massive energy. Maybe we were affected because we played on Sunday with one less player for 60 minutes with similar players. This type of game is difficult to assess,” Pochettino said.
McTominay scores twice as Man United beat Chelsea
Scott McTominay once again proved to be the hero for Manchester United as they secured a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford.
McTominay’s two goals, one before and one after the break were crucial for the Red Devils, who faced a brief setback when Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea.
The Red Devils have risen to sixth place 27 points after 15 matches thanks to their ninth win of the campaign while Chelsea who suffered a sixth defeat of their league season remain 10th with 19 points.
The victory sets the stage for Manchester United’s next match against Bournemouth at Old Trafford, while Chelsea will face Everton at Goodison Park the following day.
