Police have launched investigations after a group of over 300 youths stormed Tangulbei Police Station, Tiaty East in Baringo, on Wednesday, March 27.
In the incident, the group of suspected Pokot youth stormed the police station at around 4:30 pm.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident was in protest over the death of 24-year-old Davis Arikai Kaptum.
Kaptum had been arrested on charges of assault, vandalism, and public disturbance. He was released on bail the same day he was arrested.
However, Kaptum was later found murdered while he was travelling home, with the mob blaming police for his death.
The attack on the station has led to destruction of property and injuries to an officer.
The windscreen, doors, and headlights of a police vehicle were vandalized. Office furniture, windows, and roof sheets were also damaged.
Police say that seven motorcycles, including four belonging to police trainees, were stolen.
Police fired warning shots to disperse the crowd, with no reported injuries among the protestors.
