The burial of 12-year-old Kennedy Onyango, tragically shot in Rongai, was abruptly halted under distressing circumstances.

According to comedian and activist Eric Omondi, they had reached Homa Bay to lay Kennedy to rest.

Only to encounter a police roadblock where authorities allegedly took away the boy’s body.

“So we got to Homa Bay to bury 12-year-old Kennedy, and just before reaching the homestead, we encountered a police roadblock.

They took the boy,” Omondi shared.

“Whoever is responsible, please allow this woman to mourn in peace and allow her to bury her son. She has suffered enough.”

Kennedy Onyango was shot eight times during the Finance Bill 2024 protests.

His tragic and sudden death deeply shocked and horrified the nation, igniting calls for justice.

Described as talented and artistic, Kennedy’s mother showcased his drawings in an album.

Reflecting on his vibrant spirit and promising future cut short.

In a heart-wrenching video, Kennedy’s mother was seen overcome with grief, pleading for compassion from those who took her son.

“I am still grieving and all I wanted was to bury my son in peace,” the grief-stricken mother said.

I do not quarrel with anyone; my only wish was to lay him to rest and have a place to visit him.

Now, I am left confused and uncertain about what comes next.”
