Police in Mamboleo, Kisumu County, have unearthed what they believe is a ring of gangsters that have been terrorising residents in the area.
Acting on intelligence, officers from Gita Police Station have arrested three suspected members of the said gang, who are connected to a series of burglaries in Kisumu East Sub-County.
Richard Ochieng, 21, Victor Awuor Otewi, 25, and George Otieno, 31, were arrested on Tuesday, March 4 at around 8 pm.
It all started on February 26, 2025, when a gang broke into the house of one Selly Awino. Awino made a report at the same police station, and documented how the gang broke into her house and stole several items including; a 43″ Vitron television set, a HP Laptop, and Android Phone and a Maasai Lesso.
The police team, led by the Officer Commanding Gita Police Station, staged a sting operation in the area. Based on intelligence reports, the officers successfully arrest the suspects from their hideout within Mamboleo Market.
“Thorough search was conducted within their hideout and assorted house breaking implements were recovered. The reportee, one Selly Awino, positively identified the three apprehended culprits. The culprits have owned up with the February reported burglary incident where they were six in number,” the police report reads in part.
Currently, the arrested suspects are leading the police to the hide-out of he remaining three members of the notorious gang, and the recovery of more stolen items.
