Police in Chavakali, Vihiga County, on Friday, August 2 arrested one robbery with violence suspect.
Police also impounded a Toyota Fielder vehicle that the suspect, in the company of four others, were using at the time of the arrest.
Confirming the incident, Vihiga County Police Commander Peter Katam says that police suspect the robbers were from committing a robbery in Yala in the neighbouring Siaya County.
Unfortunately, the four other suspects managed to escape the police dragnet, even as a hot pursuit continues.
Upon searching the vehicle, police officers found assorted electronic devices believed to have been stolen, as well as crude weapons believed to have been used on victims. “One of the weapons was also stained with blood,” the police boss says.
Katam says that the suspected criminals are part of a ring of criminals targeting residents and businesses across the Lake Region counties.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court, even as he helps police with investigations.
