Ten Machakos County officers who forcefully apprehended Kalama Ward representative Boniface Maeke will remain in Custody for another five days as the prosecution continues with its investigation.

Justice Mary Otindo rejected the prosecution’s request to keep the suspects in custody for 14 days, giving the police officers involved in the case sufficient time to conduct their investigation before presenting evidence in court.

The ten individuals are facing charges of armed robbery, disrupting peace within the court premises, and forcibly invading the ward representative. The court has granted them the option to post a bond of 20,000 shillings each.

“Take notice that the applicant, National Police Service, is undertaking investigations to an offence of robbery with violence contrary to section 396 (2), assault causing actual bodily harm contrary to section 251 and creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to Section 95(1) (b) of the penal code reported at Machakos police station via OB 42/31/2024,” Court documents read in part.

On Wednesday, the ten arrived at the Machakos court premises during the hearing of the case against Masii Ward representative Daughlus Musyoka, attempting to forcefully apprehend the Kalama Ward representative and causing chaos in the court.

“He was stripped naked and sustained injuries on the left leg ankle, left hand, ribs and his private parts and at the time of the incident he alleged to have been robbed of his wallet, Sh100,000 in cash and a mobile phone of Samsung make valued at Sh150, 000,” the Prosecution stated.

However, the Machakos County government, through a media statement, distanced itself from the invasion, stating that the ten individuals should face legal consequences for their actions.
