Police in Sarmach, West Pokot County, have recovered more than 700 bullets.

Police say the 749 bullets – impounded on Tuesday, September 26 midnight – were on transit to the neighbouring Turkana County.

Confirming the recovery, West Pokot County Police Commander Peter Kattam said the persons ferrying the bullets using a motorbike were able to escape police dragnet.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the weapons are from the neighbouring Uganda.
The recovery comes just a day after the burial of three people who were brutally murdered in Turkwel area.
