Police, locals launch search for missing siblings aged 10 and 4 suspected to have been swept away by floods

Police in collaboration with locals in Mwotot area in Pokot South have started the search for two minor siblings suspected to have been swept away by raging floods.

A report filed at Tapach Police Station by the father of the two kids aged 4 and 10 years says that they left their home on Tuesday, April 22 at an unknown time but failed to return.

Geoffrey Lorwanyang says that after his children — both pupils of Chemorir ECD Primary School — failed to return, they launched a search but they could not be traced.

However, preliminary investigations have revealed that the two minors were last seen along the banks of a local river, raising suspicions that they might have been swept away by flood waters occasioned by the ongoing heavy rains in the area.

Police officers and National Government Administration Officers are currently combing the area.

The County Government Disaster Response Team and Kenya Red Cross have been contacted to aid in the search mission.
