A police officer attached to Kariobangi South Police Post who was reported missing on Sunday, June 15 has been found.
According to Inspector Charles Muriungi Koroneli’s wife, Edna Kanyiri Kithure, the officer went to their residence in Rongai, Kajiado County, and told her that he had lost his gun.
The wife says that her husband looked disturbed after allegedly losing his Ceska pistol S/NO.B022908, which was loaded with 15 bullets, under unclear circumstances.
“He suddenly moved to the washing area and took a pesticide (Ograno Phosphate poisoning). He was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital Rongai where he is being treated,” a report filed at Mowlem Police Station says.
Police officers who rushed to the scene established that indeed the officer had gobbled the poison.
Police have since launched investigations to recover the firearm.
“Appropriate action taken, and a search party dispatched to his house and areas he previously visited,” the report adds.
