A police officer perished in a road accident on Monday, May 13 along the Kiambu-Ruiru Road.

The deceased who was a police constable attached to Ruiru Police Station, was reportedly involved in a hit and run accident at 10pm.

Apparently, the victim was crossing the road in the company of his colleague during their routine night patrol.

The late police officer is said to have been hit by the speeding car, which did not stop even after hitting him.

He reportedly suffered severe head injuries and fracture on his left leg. The officer was pronounced dead on arrival at Plains View Hospital where he was rushed moments after the accident.

His colleague escaped death unharmed, after he hesitated to cross the road when he spotted the speeding car fast approaching them.

The body was moved to the hospital’s mortuary pending autopsy. Police have also launched a manhunt for the runaway motorist to face charges.
