A traffic police officer has died on the spot after being hit by a speeding car in Teso North Sub-county in Busia.

Nancy Jepchumba met her tragic death at the Koteko roadblock where she had been assigned for the night.

This is after a speeding car which was flagged down by her colleagues failed to stop and fled at high speed.

The incident took place at 3.00AM Monday morning approximately 10 kilometers away from the Malaba one stop boarder post.

Police suspect that the car was ferrying illegal goods as to why the driver failed to stop.

The roadblock is also a key point that police use to check human trafficking, along the Northern side.

Teso North deputy county commissioner Stephen Wambura has said police are looking for leads that may lead to the arrest of the killer driver.

The DCC, however, could not give more details about the incident telling reporters to allow police to trace the killer’s car before giving a detailed statement.
