Police officer on leave killed in Eldoret-Webuye Road accident

A police officer was on Thursday, April 11 killed after he was involved in a fatal accident along Eldoret-Webuye Road.

The accident, which occurred at around 10 am, is said to have been caused by a Mercedes Benz SSD 921S/ZG 3781 truck that was heading towards the Eldoret general direction.

Upon reaching Spring Park Area, a police report says that the driver rammed into two motorcycles, one of them being a TVS Star motorcycle ridden by the police officer.

“Due to the impact, the Police officer [attached to Fort Tenan Police Station in Kericho County who was on leave] died on the spot,” the report filed at Lumakanda Police Station says.

Meanwhile, the other motorcycle rider who was ferrying three female pillion passengers sustained bruises on his face and also complained of pain on his right leg.

The three passengers were rushed to Turbo Sub-County Hospital for treatment. The body was removed to Kimbilio Mortuary.

Efforts to trace the driver of the truck who fled the scene immediately after the accident are in progress.
