Police officer shoots his colleague, killing him during a fight in Nairobi

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations after a Police officer shot his colleague, killing him instantly during an argument as they were leaving a bar last night in Ruaraka, Nairobi.

Police reported that a Police Constable attached to the security detail of a CEO of a blue-chip company shot his colleague following a disagreement as they were leaving a bar in Ruaraka on Saturday February 22, 2025 at night.

The deceased officer, Constable Raphael Kimilu Wambua of the General Service Unit (GSU), was with his brother during the incident on Saturday at around 1:30 am.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased, his brother, and the other constable were walking home from a club when a quarrel escalated into a fistfight. The constable then drew his firearm and shot Wambua, killing him on the spot.

After the shooting, the police officer attempted to run away but was captured by members of the public who wanted to lynch. He was rescued by officers from Ruaraka Police Station, who were on night patrol.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kenyatta University Mortuary as the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
