Police recover over 700 bags of Gov’t subsidized fertilizer after raiding shop in Trans Nzoia; three suspects arrested

Police in Matisi, Trans Nzoia County, have seized more than 700 bags of Government Subsidized Fertilizer after raiding a shop in the area.

Acting on intelligence, officers in DCI’s Operation Support Unit raided Baraka Shop owned by one Ali Abdi Fatah at around 3:10pm Monday, April 15.

Operation Support Unit was led by Zachary Kariuki from DCI Headquarters, together with DCI Trans Nzoia and Trans Nzoia West Sub-County Police Commander.

During the raid, the following subsidized fertilizers were recovered;

FOMI OTESHA (26 bags), Falcon CAN 26% (424 bags), OCP NPSP (20 bags), Simba UREA (34 bags), Mavuno Top Dress (98 bags), and NPK 10:26:0 (70 bags).

Also recovered was Falcon Ammonium Sulphate (16 bags), Tupande CAN (43 bags), Nafaka (1 bag), DAP OCP (3 bags).

Consequently, three suspects were arrested during the raid; Ali Abdi Fatah (41 years), Abdi Jabar Hussein (19 years), and 53-year-old Boniface Awili.

The bags of subsidized fertilizers were removed from the shop and stored at National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) warehouse in Kitale.
