Police recover stolen car that was being dismantled into parts in Nairobi

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday June 17, 2024 recovered a stolen car that was being dismantled into parts along Kamulu- Josna Road in Nairobi.

DCI noted in a statement that the officers had traced the car that had been stolen from Umoja by unknown suspects.

A suspect was arrested during the incident as police continued with investigations over car theft in Nairobi.

This was after Dennis Macharia reported at Buruburu Police station over the theft of his car of registration number KDJ 366C within Umoja area.

“Following up on a reported case of theft of a M/V vide Buruburu Police station  OB10/10/6/2024 by one Dennis Macharia in which he stated that he had parked his M/V reg KDJ 366C Toyota  Ractis Brown within Umoja inner core and later found the same missing.

“Acting on some actionable  intelligence, a team from the Nairobi regional DCI Hqs, DCI Buruburu and Kamulu Police station team  proceeded to Kamulu Josna Road at the residence of one Salesio Njagi Kuria where the reported stolen M/V was found while in the process of being dismantled into pieces,” police reported.

Meanwhile, inside the same gated compound four other M/Vs were found, all in various states of repair.

They included KCW 831N Mazda Damio Blue, KDB 216T Toyota Ractis Silver,  KDB 308P Suzuki Mira Silver and KCW 346L Toyota Passo White (colour changed from its original blue).

DCI detectives visited the scene and towed all the vehicles from the compound to the Buruburu Police station.
