Police seize 12 sacks of bhang that were being transported on 5 motorbikes in Migori

Police officers have seized 12 sacks of bhang that were being transported on 5 motorbikes in Isebania, Migori County.

In a report on Thursday June 13, 2024, police noted that all suspects escaped during the incident on Wednesday June 12.

“A team of police officers from Isebania Police Station got information that there was a well-known drug trafficker namely Joseph Sabora and his team transporting twelve (12) sacks of suspected narcotic drugs (bhang) using five motor cycles from neighbouring country (Tanzania) to Kenya through Nyametaburo feeder road,” police reported.

At the same time, Police officers received information that, there was a motor vehicle of registration number KDG 800P Toyota Prado, white in colour that was set to carry the 12 sacks of bhang after being delivered by the motorbikes.

The officers laid an ambush immediately at the said route.

“While at the ambush they saw five motor cycles approaching from Tanzania while ferrying the said 12 sacks of bhang but they stopped at about 200 meters away from where the officers had laid an ambush and started offloading in order to load into a motor vehicle which was in waiting,” police reported.

However, while offloading, the suspects saw the officers approaching towards them at a distance and fled by foot leaving behind five motorcycles and 12 sacks of bhang at the scene.

Additionally, the motor vehicle KDG 800P which was set to carry the 12 sacks of bhang, drove off before carrying any of the sacks.

Police officers recovered five motor cycles; TMC616 DRC black in colour, 2 numberless king bossi, KMGC  232Z boxer black in colour, KMDN 193Q boxer black in colour and 12 sacks of bhang.

The officers, further noted that the bhang was approximately 600kgs with street value of Ksh18 million.

Meanwhile, all the motor cycles and the 12 sacks of bhang were taken to the police station and kept as exhibits pending arrest of motor cycle’s owners and the well-known drug trafficker.
