Policeman found dead at a bar in Kikuyu

In Kiambu County, DCI detectives are investigating the death of a police officer, whose body was found in a bar in Kikuyu Town.

Julius Kaimenyi, a corporal with the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) in Nairobi, was discovered unresponsive on a bench Tuesday morning.

The officer reportedly vomited as this resulted in the bar manager instructing he be laid down on the bench outside.

Later, the remaining revelers left, leaving the officer asleep but he was found unresponsive the following morning.

Police confirmed he had vomited on his clothes and moved the body to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched investigations to determine the cause of his death. A team has already questioned witnesses and waiters at the bar as part of the inquiry.

This incident follows the death of another officer, Constable Geoffrey Kipapi, who was found dead in his home in Vihiga after finishing his shift on January 11.

Kipapi, attached to the Magada Patrol base, had gone to bed after returning home late.

His family found him deceased the next day, with blood coming from his mouth and nose.

Police removed his body for postmortem at Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
