Residents of Adamo area in Lagos State, Nigeria apprehended a religious leader in possession of a human skull and handed him over to the police.

According to the police report, the suspect who was identified as Babalola is an Imam in the area. He was arrested together with his four other accomplices. 

The Punch had reported that the suspect was found with a human skull and other body parts in a polythene bag in Lagos. 

However, Lagos police commander Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement posted on his X account, assured residents that investigations were ongoing to unravel the mystery behind the incident.

“We commend the good people of Ikorodu for doing the right thing and not yielding to jungle justice. We will ensure justice is done,” Hundeyin noted on X.

The police commander was responding to a post on X, from a resident who had posted about the arrest of the religious leader. 

“Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State have handed over a popular Chief Imam Babalola and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body,” @DejiAdesogan posted on X.

Another resident, identified as Ayo, told The Punch that the Imam was arrested on Thursday January 18.

“The Chief Imam Adamo Central Mosque was caught alongside others in the Adamo area of Ikorodu. They’ve been taken to the anti-kidnapping and cultists police unit at Araro, Adamo,” said Ayo.
