A 19-year-old girl has taken her life in Kabodho village, Kisumu County citing frustration by her mother and grandmother.
According to Chief Charles Ogolla of Pap Onditi location, the lifeless body of the young woman was discovered hanging from the roof of her grandmother’s house.
The girl, who had completed her secondary education last year at Rae Girls School, left behind a note in which she revealed that she was two months pregnant.
She also expressed in the note that she had been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to join a university.
However, she felt that neither her grandmother nor her mother showed any concern for her aspirations, leading her to the desperate decision to end her life in an attempt to relieve them of their perceived burden.
Police arrived at the scene, retrieved the girl’s body, and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.
The chief appealed to the residents of the sub-location to consider seeking alternative solutions to their problems rather than resorting to such extreme measures.
