President William Ruto, during his development tour of Nyeri County on Saturday, April 5, 2025, made a bold and candid statement about his political future.
Ruto said he is ready to be tested by Kenyans in the 2027 general election and expressed openness to whatever decision the people make.
“In 2027, you will give me an exam. If I pass, I will continue. If I fail, I will go back to farming,” he said.
The President urged fellow leaders to stop engaging in endless political arguments and instead focus on delivering development to the people. He reminded the public that every leader was elected to serve and emphasized that in 2027, citizens will have the right to evaluate them based on their performance.
During the tour, Ruto launched several development projects, including the construction of a modern KSh 325 million market in Othaya. The facility will feature 1,000 stalls, cold storage units, and digital access centers — all aimed at boosting local businesses and creating employment opportunities, especially for youth and women.
Earlier, during a stop in Embu County, Ruto appeared equally confident about his 2027 prospects, stating that he is ready to take on his political challengers.
“I will face them head-on, and none of them will defeat me,” he declared.
The President’s remarks have sparked conversations across the country. While some praised his humility and willingness to submit to the people’s will, others viewed the speech as a direct challenge to the opposition.
His tour not only underscored his development agenda but also reinforced his readiness to be judged by Kenyans based on his performance.
