Presenter Kai has opened up about a memorable, yet awkward moment with his girlfriend that he will always remember.
During an interview with Billy Miya about “Hii Si Ya Kusahau” on ‘Maskani 47’, Kai recounted in vivid detail how he found himself locked out of his girlfriend’s residence.
Kai disclosed that after making his way from Kitengela, he was unexpectedly caught in a downpour right after getting out of a cab at her gated estate.
He detailed how he was left standing in the rain for about 30 minutes while she rummaged through her things in search of the spare key to the gate.
“Kuna siku moja nilikuwa nimetoka Kitengela nikaenda kumwona mrembo wangu. Nilichukua Bolt vizuri, nikafika kwa gate – kukanyesha. Kwa bahati mbaya alikuwa amepeana ufunguo nami nilikuwa nimeacha ufunguo wangu. Nilinyeshewa pale kati ya dakika 20 na 30,” said Kai.
“There were no neighbours or a structure nearby for you to take shelter?” posed Miya.
“Si unajua estates,” responded Kai.
He went on to share that while he was caught in the rain, he was troubled by thoughts that maybe the key was not missing and she was possibly cheating on him.
Still, he found solace knowing that the house was surrounded by a perimeter wall.
“Nilikuwa nafikiria kuna watu humo ndani ama ninachezwa. Kwa bahati nzuri ni kwamba, mahali tuko, fence hawawezi ruka. Kwa hivyo ilibidi nikakaa pale hadi dakika zile zilipoisha; nikinyeshewa pale nje, nikiloa. Ndio baadae sasa akapata spare akaja akafungua gate,” he narrated.
To which Miya pressed, “She was inside the house and you could not ask neighbours for help?”
“Tuko mahali ampako hakuna majirani,” explained Kai.
Miya then asked, “Did you check under the bed?”
“Nilienda direct kwa kitanda, mvunguni pale. Kunakuwa na movies za burudani lakini pia zinatufunza. Nikasema hapana, watu si wajinga bwana. Nilianza kunusanusa harufu labda aliingia na marashi, lakini nikapata marashi ni yale yetu. Niliangalia ku-confirm fence kama siku hizi kuna mahali pa kurukia lakini hakuna,” said Kai.
Even though he found no one, Kai said he sought assurance from the estate’s security guard, who dismissed his apprehensions about her being unfaithful.
“Ilibidi asubuhi nikauliza ‘soja’ kama kuna vile, akaniambia ni salama,” said Kai.
“Pole sana ndugu yangu,” said Miya as he and Kai laughed off the incident.
