President Ruto assigns Mudavadi, Duale and Mvurya additional ministries

President William Ruto has assigned Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) Aden Duale and Salim Mvurya additional ministries.

In a memo dated Saturday, December 28, 2024, President Ruto assigned Mudavadi as the acting CS for ICT and Digital Economy. This is until the nominee in the docket, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, is vetted and approved by Parliament.

According to the memo, Environment CS Duale will now be the acting CS for Agriculture and Livestock Development. This will be until nominee Mutahi Kagwe is vetted and approved by Members of Parliament (MPs).

Sports CS Mvurya will be the acting CS in charge of Investment, Trade and Industry, until former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui is vetted and approved by Parliament for the position.

Kabogo, Kagwe and Kinyanjui are scheduled to be vetted by the Appointments Committee on January 14, 2025.

The trio were nominated to the various ministries following a Cabinet reshuffle by President Ruto on December 19.

The reshuffle saw Kipchumba Murkomen moved from Sports docket to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Mvurya, formerly the CS for Investment, Trade and Industry was moved to Sports.

Kabogo, Kagwe and Kinyanjui are close allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta. They nomination came shortly after President Ruto closed ranks with his former boss and met in Uhuru’s Gatundu home.
