President Ruto defends Energy CS Davis Chirchir against TIFA polls

President William Ruto has called on Kenyans not to put all the blame on Energy Cs David Chirchir over the frequent power outages.

Ruto stated that these are problems the Cabinet Secretary inherited over lack of clear power supply plans by the Kenyan government.

The president insisted that the opinion polls by TIFA released by TIFA that placed Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir as the lowest performing CS were flaud.

He accused the Pollster of being sponsored by individual he did name to taint his administration.

He further indicated that if it were up to TIFA he would have been the President of the Republic of Kenya.

“I don’t believe in TIFA polls, they are a fraud. If it was up to TIFA, I wouldn’t be president” state the President.

On Wednesday 13th December TIFA released a report on the best and worst performing Cabinet Secretaries.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir is the worst-performing CS in President William Ruto’s Cabinet, according to the TIFA report.

Chirchir scored 19 percent while Gender CS Aisha Jumwa was ranked second last with 23 percent.

According to the report, Davis Chirchir was ranked as the worst performing CS considering the way he was struggling with addressing issues of increased fuel prices and power outages in the country.

Three third worst CSs are Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury), Zachariah Njeru (Water) and Alice Wahome (Lands) who scored 24 percent.

Chirchir has been a punching bag for many including politician from the opposition and UDA over the national blackouts including Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga who called on the president to fire the CS for embarssing the Nation.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi on Monday, December 11, Chirchir noted that the power outages were caused by overloading the power line due to lack of an update on the network system.

The Energy CS added that the Ministry has not updated the power network system due to financial constraints.

“We know where the problem is but we lack investment in the network overtime, this is what is hitting us. “stated the CS.
