President Ruto fires 23 government officers over alleged corruption

On Wednesday, October 11, President William Ruto issued an order for the immediate removal of 23 rangers and forest administrators.

The Head of State claimed that the individuals listed above were corrupt.

“I have instructed the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) board that all those engaged in corruption be fired and be taken to court. We have already found 23 forest managers and rangers.

“Those who have led to the destruction of forests be removed from the government. From tomorrow I do not want them to be in government payroll. These are people who are saboteurs,” Ruto added.

President orders prosecution of ‘corrupt’ officers

Additionally, Ruto ordered that the authorities be prosecuted for their illegal actions.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is looking into the 23 forest officers and rangers for involvement in destroying forests, corruption, neglect of duty, and incompetence.

The Kenya Forest Service and the government payroll will be terminated after the investigation is over, according to information from Ruto’s staff.

Additionally, Ruto ordered detectives to expedite its investigations into the 23 and other personnel who are allegedly involved in corrupt activities at the agency.

The Head of State spoke on Wednesday at the KFS graduates’ graduation ceremony in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

CS Soipan Tuya ordered to clean up the ministry

President Ruto had raised his concerns after learning that certain officers had engaged in fraudulent activities that resulted in the destruction of numerous forests.

He thus gave CS Soipan Tuya, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, the assignment to thoroughly clean the ministry.

The President instructed Tuya to implement agency reforms, noting that they were crucial to the success of climate change programs.

“There must be a thorough cleanup in Kenya Forest Service,” he added.

Ruto committed to take all necessary measures to safeguard Kenya’s environment and make sure that honest officials have the chance to serve their nation.
