President Ruto mourns High Court Judge Justice David Majanja

President William Ruto on Thursday July 11, 2024 mourned High Court Judge David Majanja as an intellectual lawyer of integrity.

Justice Majanja passed away on Wednesday evening at a Nairobi hospital while receiving treatment after surgery.

In a statement posted on his X account, President Ruto said Justice Majanja was a brilliant lawyer whose integrity and ability inspired the judicial fraternity.

“The Hon. Majanja was a brilliant lawyer who joined the Bench after an exemplary spell at the Bar.

“His integrity and ability inspired the confidence of his colleagues, while his powerful intellect made him a trusted juridical voice.

“It has been evident for long that although fairly experienced, Hon. Majanja was at the beginning of a long and illustrious career, and this fact makes his passing all the more tragic,” Ruto stated.

In addition, the president expressed his condolences to Hon. Majanja’s family, friends and the Judiciary.

At the same time, Chief Justice Martha Koome on behalf of the Judiciary on Wednesday mourned the death of Justice David Majanja.

“On behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission, it is with profound sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Hon. Justice David Amilcar Shikomera Majanja, Judge of the High Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission. We are all heartbroken,” noted Martha Koome

Before his death, he was serving as the Chairperson of the JSC HR Committee.

Majanja was appointed as Judge of the High Court in 2011. He served at Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu and Kisii High Courts.

Additionally, he also served at the Commercial and Tax Divisions and Milimani High Court Civil Division.
