President Ruto now intensifies war with Judiciary and LSK

National NewsNews

President William Ruto has now decided to go bare Knuckle in the war with the judicial arm of government, reiterating his stance about officers from the arm of government that are out to sabotage his legacy.

The president through a statement issued they statehouse spokesman Hussein Mohammed went on to dismiss the law society of Kenya LSK call for protests against the executive after the head of state castigated the judiciary for harboring rogue elements.

“The Law Society of Kenya has today purported to advise President William Ruto on constitutionalism, and specifically the independence of the Judiciary. They need not.

“The President has consistently championed upholding the rule of law and constitutional principles, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding the independence of the Judiciary. This commitment has been evident through his unwavering respect for and compliance with recent court orders, notably those pertaining to the Government’s Affordable Housing Program.”

Also Mohammed reminded the Judiciary that the president was intentional about the independence of the Judiciary when he appointed the six judges who were left in the dark by his predecessor on his first day in office.

“From the onset of his presidency, the President took deliberate measures to rectify past injustices by appointing judicial officers who, due to Executive impunity, had been unjustly denied their rightful appointments.”

He added that while the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) together with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were discharging their constitutional mandate, those efforts were frustrated by the circumnavigation of the criminal justice system.

“Corruption, whether within the Judiciary, the Executive or the Legislature and, indeed, among the general public must not find refuge behind the shield of judicial independence. It is our duty to expose and hold accountable those who engage in corrupt practices whoever they maybe and wherever they are.”

The statement came immediately after Chief Justice Martha Koome In a strong worded statement warned that the Judiciary was an independent and co-equal arm of government.

She also urged all Judges and Judicial Officers to continue performing their judicial duties without fear or favour.
