President William Ruto on Friday morning instructed the relevant security agencies to expedite investigations into the recent fire tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County, which claimed the lives of 17 students.

In addition, he has ordered the Ministry of Interior and Coordination to mobilize the necessary resources to support the affected families.

In his statement, President Ruto emphasized that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the incident. He expressed deep sorrow for the families impacted by the tragedy and assured them of the government’s full support.

“The government will ensure a thorough investigation into the incident, and accountability will be enforced for those responsible,” Ruto stated. The Ministry of Interior and Coordination is currently coordinating efforts to provide the necessary aid to the bereaved families.

“Our thoughts are with the grieving families, and our prayers are with the survivors for a quick recovery,” he added.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also expressed his condolences and called for the swift recovery of the injured students.

“May the families find strength during this difficult time. It’s crucial for schools to implement the safety protocols recommended by the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities to prevent such tragedies,” Gachagua remarked.

“Our hearts go out to the families, the school, and the nation as we mourn the loss of these young lives,” he added.
