President William Ruto is set to visit Tyler Perry Studios to unlock the potential of film in Kenya during his US tour on May 21, 2024.
Speaking during an interview on May 8, 2024, Foreign Affairs principal secretary (PS) Korir Sing’oei provided insights into the President’s upcoming state visit to the USA.
According to Korir, the president is scheduled to visit Tyler Perry’s studio, a major film and television production company located in Atlanta, Georgia.
During the visit the president is expected to meet the owner and renowned actor Tyler Perry and other key industry players.
The meeting is expected to be of strategic importance to the Kenyan economy as it will explore the possibility of collaborations and unlock the potential of the Kenyan film industry on a global scale.
“ He will be with Tyler Perry, a number of players within the Hollywood ecosystem will be able to have a conversation with him in relation to how they can work together to unlock the potential of film,” said Sing’oei.
He added that the president is expected to strike a major investment deal with the multinational group Coca Cola and engage with institutions of higher learning to promote partnerships in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields.
The PS added that the president is scheduled to engage with Kenyans living in the United States and then address a joint session of the US congress in Washington DC.
