President William Ruto has, for the first time, vowed to address the ongoing abductions in the country.
Speaking in Homa Bay, where he served as the chief guest at the annual Genowa tournament hosted by Governor Gladys Wanga, the president assured citizens of his commitment to resolving the issue.
However, President Ruto also urged Kenyan parents to take responsibility of raising children to be responsible citizens.
In a rare show of unity, President Ruto was joined by ODM leader Raila Odinga, who urged him to be more lenient toward youth expressing criticism on social media.
Odinga emphasized that such criticism is normal in a democracy and encouraged the president to focus on uniting the nation and advancing its development.
He called upon the Kenyan youth to live peacefully, and implored them to be disciplined.
The event also saw the attendance of Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, underscoring the bipartisan nature of the gathering. President Ruto’s pledge is expected to bring hope to citizens concerned about rising insecurity.
