The political crisis in Rivers State involving Governor Fubara and former Governor Wike in Nigeria was resolved on Monday, December 18, after intervention of President Bola Tinubu.
This was after president Tinubu chaired a meeting in Abuja that brought together Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara; his Deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu, Peter Odili (a former governor), immediate former Rivers Governor Nyesome Wike, several top leaders and opinion leaders from the State.
The immediate former Rivers governor Nyesome Wike has been at the center of the political crisis in the State, as he was being accused of sabotaging Governor Fubara’s government by inciting Commissioners to resign.
The meeting that took place at President Tinubu’s office lasted for about three hours. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
