Kenyan President William Ruto has been praised for his unprecedented climate brilliance by COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber in Dubai during the World Climate action summit.
Speaking during the COP28 summit, President Al Jaber noted the impact of the Africa Climate Summit that happened this year in Kenya in September 2023, stating that it set the stage for this years’ World biggest climate gathering as well as uniting African countries.
“The unprecedented climate action brilliance of Kenya’s President William Ruto in launching the Africa Climate Summit(ACS) earlier this year and as a champion of climate action for Africa and the Global South has contributed immensely to setting the stage for COP28,” President Al Jaber said.
Al Jaber made the remarks in reference to what President William Ruto said during the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, in September 2023.

During the climate summit in Nairobi, President Ruto had stated that the event was not only of great importance to Africa but for the world at large.
“We must see in green growth not just as a climate imperative, but also a fountain of multi-billion dollar economic opportunities that Africa and World is primed to capitalize on,” President Ruto said during the Africa climate summit at the KICC, Nairobi on 4th September.
World leaders are meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the 28th United Nations Climate change conference (COP28) that was scheduled to start on November 30 to December 12, 2023.

After the launch of the Loss and Damage (L&D) Fund, which saw the United Arab Emirates pledge 100 million dollars to the kitty, President Jaber revealed that other nations have already contributed 500 million dollars into the fund.

The Loss and Damage Fund is meant to offer financial support to vulnerable communities and countries that are burdened by the negative impacts of climate change which are already manifesting globally.
