Presidential hopeful and human rights advocate Okiya Omtatah has shed light on the final known movements of Kibet Bull.
A renowned cartoonist on X (formerly Twitter), who was allegedly abducted on December 24, 2024.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, December 26, Omtatah revealed that Kibet had visited his offices on the day of his disappearance.
According to Omtatah, Kibet arrived at his office at around 11 a.m. on December 24,
Introducing himself as a passionate cartoonist and a keen follower of the aspirant’s political journey.
The two reportedly engaged in a detailed conversation where Kibet expressed his support for Omtatah’s presidential bid and offered his artistic skills to contribute to his campaign.
“He informed me that he is a very big supporter of the work I do and that he had travelled to Nairobi from Nakuru just to meet me before flying out,” Omtatah stated.
“He also informed me that he would be staying at his brother’s house before his departure.
He did not express any fears about his safety.” Omtatah added,
while referring to Kibet’s impending trip to Israel for further studies.
The meeting, Omtatah said, lasted until approximately 4 p.m., after which Kibet left his office.
The Busia Senator acknowledged that his security detail had seen a white Subaru following Kibet to his crowded offices across the street.
He continued by saying that he had Kibet driven to the Kencom bus stage by his driver and a coworker so that he could catch a matatu to Kikuyu.
“When I learnt of his abduction, I made a report to the Upperhill Police Station.
I took it upon myself to make that report because he left this house and did not arrive at his destination,” Omtatah stated.
“I strongly believe that Mr. Kibet was tracked and abducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
As soon as he arrived, my security informed me that they were monitoring a white Subaru, which was mounted with suspected spy communication gadgets used to intercept phone conversations.” He added.
Omtatah went on to describe the situation, stating that the two men and a woman who were inside the car did not leave during the cartoonist’s whole stay at his office
And they left shortly after Kibet did.
According to reports, Kibet had been avoiding the city out of concern for his safety
But he also made the trip from Nakuru to the capital after his brother vanished on Saturday.
